Beading the Rosettes (Medallions)
well..now here we have a situation. I am no good at explaining things, thus there are no tutorials. But I will give it a try.
'Rosette' isn't actually a stitch. I guess if I had to name an appropriate stitch it might be the lazy stitch.
The beaded rosettes (medallions) are work that is done on stiff fabric or thin leather like chamois.
1- sew one bead on the leather and tie a good strong knot on the back to keep it in place. This is the center of your rosette (or medallion).
2-bring your needle up through the leather close to the first bead, this will be the starting point of all your rows (circles).
3-count and string your beads getting the colors in order by the pattern. Always work in one direction..like clockwise.
4-lay the strung beads on the leather around the first bead that you stitched on to form a circle.
5-bring the needle down through the leather very close to where you brought the thread up to string the first row. now you have a loop of beads.
6-lay the circle of beads down and lazy stitch over the thread to hold the row of beads down to the leather around the first bead.
And you do the same thing with every row that follows. The main thing to watch is to try to keep the beads lined up right so they create the pattern. it might help to draw a straight line on the leather with a pencil going out from the first bead. Then each time you add a row, you make sure to bring your needle up through the line.
Also, choosing beads that are uniform in size will help to make the pattern come out better.
